Memberships shouldn't sit on a higher tier

Recurring memberships are how a class business stops guessing at next month's income. On Punchpass they are not on the entry plan — selling them means moving up a tier. Sitz includes memberships, class packs and waitlists together on its $29 Growth plan. That is the difference between the two products, and it is close to the only one that matters here.

How the two are built differently

  • Recurring memberships are not on the entry plan

Punchpass's entry plan covers classes and passes but not recurring memberships; selling those means moving up a tier. If memberships are the reason you are shopping, that is the plan you are really pricing. On Sitz they are on Growth alongside class packs and waitlists, and the plan above adds instructor seats and reporting rather than the ability to bill monthly.

  • Neither of us takes a cut of your revenue

Punchpass charges no platform fee on top of standard payment-processing rates, and neither does Sitz. This is worth stating plainly rather than leaving you to assume otherwise: if you are comparing on whether a platform skims your takings, that is not a difference between these two. Some other platforms do charge a percentage — this pair does not.

  • Punchpass does not cap instructor seats. We do.

Every Punchpass plan states unlimited instructors. Sitz does not: Starter is one instructor, Growth is up to three, and unlimited seats start on Studio at $49. If you teach with four or more people and do not need memberships, that difference runs in their favour, and you should price it both ways before you move.

  • Both are month to month

Punchpass is month-to-month with no long-term contract, and so is Sitz. Contract length is not a reason to switch between these two, and we would rather say so than let you infer a difference that is not there.

Sitz

How memberships work on Sitz

  • Included on Growth, at $29 a month

Recurring memberships, multi-class packs and waitlists are all on the same plan. Studio at $49 adds unlimited instructors, advanced reporting and automatic no-show handling — not the ability to charge monthly.

  • Clients subscribe once and stop paying per class

A membership covers a class type outright. The client books any covered session with no per-session charge, and the seat is held exactly like any other booking.

  • Clients cancel themselves

Every membership email carries a secure portal link. Clients manage or cancel without an account and without emailing you — better for them, and quieter for you between classes.

  • Pack balances come with you

Your client list imports on every plan and outstanding pack balances import on Growth and Studio, so a client who bought ten classes elsewhere keeps the ones they have not used. On Studio we run the migration for you.

Straight answer

Punchpass is a well-regarded product with years of history behind it and studios who are genuinely happy on it. Both products are month to month and neither takes a cut of your revenue, so those are not reasons to move. If memberships are not what you need, Punchpass does not cap instructor seats and Sitz does — at four or more instructors, price both. And if you are leaving because you want on-demand video, a branded client app or a full website, you are looking for more software than we build, not less; we are the wrong direction for that and would rather say so now. Sitz is the better fit on one question: you want recurring memberships without moving up a tier, and you teach with a team of three or fewer.
